Finnish Ship Cancels
During the Russiafication Era a ship cancelation picturing a sail or steam ship was used on certain mail routes from sometime in the 1890"s up to around 1910. They were made with a carved cancel device. Two types of cancels are known to exist. One with an oval frame and one without the frame. Not much is known of the origin of these cancels but they could have originated from one of the authorities aboard the individual ships.
